Mooradian's client, a senior from Central America, was recently able to receive her naturalization approval and be sworn in as a U.S. Citizen. The client had come to the United States decades ago and had been a long-time permanent resident of the United States. The client had long wished to become a U.S. Citizen, however, she was unable to pass the civics and English language examinations in order to become a citizen. After extensive communications with the client's family, Mooradian recognized that the client was likely eligible for a waiver of the English language and civics requirements due to medical disability. Indeed, Mooradian was able to work with stakeholders at the Family Health Center of Worcester. Ultimately, after submitting an N-648 medical disability waiver and legal argument on behalf of the Applicant, the agency agreed. Following a brief interview at the USCIS Lawrence Field Office, the client was approved for naturalization.
